Affiliation of Medical Colleges with UHS

 Lahore high Court on Friday 10 February 2023 declares in a case that all medical colleges in Punjab must be affiliated with University of Health Sciences Lahore.

A petition was filed in Lahore High Court by the University of Health Sciences Lahore on this matter.

In an important decision, the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday made it mandatory for all institutions offering medical education in Punjab to affiliate themselves with the University of Health Sciences (UHS), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The verdict read that the federal government did not have the power to issue any medical institution NOC for exemption from its order.

Justice Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal pronounced the verdict on the petition filed by the UHS against the deputy director health’s notification dated August 13, 2011.

The court declared the notification null and void.

The 33-page decision is being described as a judicial precedent.
