Retirement age was 60 years in Punjab before today's notification.
The law on early retirement age for government employees has been changed.
The Department of Services and General Administration S&GAD has issued a notification stating that government employees will no longer be able to retire prematurely before the age of 55.
Earlier, government employees could retire early after completing 25 years of service.
According to the notification, there will be no premature retirement before the age of 55, even if the job is 25 years old.
