In a recent Update on the issue of Hamza Shahbaz Selection as a Chief Minister of the Punjab, a single Member Bench of the Court orders the Governor to take Oath from Hamza Shahbaz (a member of Punjab Assembly).
Chief justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti of the Lahore High Court passed a Remarks that a province is being ruled without having a proper Chief Minister.
Also the judge said that President and governor are bound to follow their own oath, therefore Governor should take Oath from Hamza himself or through a representative of himself not later than 12 pm of 28 April.
A few weeks back, there was a rift between the speaker Ch. Pervaiz Elahi and Hamza Shahbaz. Both were contesting the election of chief minister of Punjab. At first the voting for this purpose was delayed then an issue of Dyp. Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari was created.
A Motion of no confidence has been placed on the table against the Speaker and deputy speaker, but High Court Ordered the Deputy speaker to preside the Electoral process on the day.
Hamza Shahbaz received the vote of 199 members.
